Wild Mushroom Weekend

Join Michael for a weekend of mushroom hunting!  This two day workshop will take you mushroom foraging in the mountains above Boulder for Boletes, Chanterells, Reishi, Button Mushrooms, and so many other gourmet edibles and medicinals. We will learn how to key out wild mushrooms, and will be introduced to many of the best gourmet wild mushrooms that Colorado has to offer. You will walk away from this class knowing basic mushroom safety, and how to use a dichotomous key to identify a mushroom to genus and species.   This weekend includes:

Saturday, August 23  9am – 4pm

Mushroom Id and Intro to Basic Mycology 

Learn the basics of mycology, including how to identify mushrooms and important mushroom safety. You’ll spend the day between 7,000-10,000 feet hunting for edible mushrooms.

Sunday,  August 24  9am – 4pm 

Porcini and more! 

We’ll spend the whole day foraging and learning how to cook up these delicious mushrooms!

This workshop is held outdoors. Make sure to bring layered clothing, lots of water and some snacks, as well as some decent walking/hiking shoes. A small harvesting basket is also recommended. This program is open to ages 16 and up. Group size is limited to allow for more personal attention and the best experience possible.
